Elevent dominant mesophilic fungal species (Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, Coprinus cinereus, C. patoulardii, Fusarium chlamydosporum, F. semitectum, Fusarium sp.,, Gliocladium penicilloides, Melanopsamma pomiformis, Penicillium citrinum and Trichoderma aureoviride) which contaminated the beds of rice straw mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) have been isolated using dilution method on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium. Interaction studies among the mesophilic fungi and the rice straw mushroom were carried out using the direct opposition method in PDA medium. The results showed that the mesophilic fungi were antagonistic to the rice straw mushroom. Visual examination under the microscope showed thet the hyphae of the straw rice mushroom were winded around, lysed and swelled.
